MEET ALIYE

Campaign leader of Bye Bye Bottle

Hi my name is Aliye and I am 10 years old, and I have just found out that 373 million plastic bottles end up in waste in Australia each year. I know, it just does not make sense! So I've made a decision to campaign against those planet killing plastic bottles.

This all started for me at Kinder learning about Aboriginal people and their rights. I learnt that Indigenous peoples did not have things like cars, petrol and plastic. I moved into school where I learnt about animals being killed by so many plastic bottles, bags and straws. I moved to the next grade which I will always remember because that was the grade I heard the word 'campaign'. I asked the teacher if  I could use a school computer. I searched up the word. When I found out what it meant I went exploring. I went on the computer the next day. I found out two campaigns against plastics: one of them was a about a girl who was campaigning against plastic straws and she got rid of plastic straws in Cairns. Then there were two girls from Bali who banned plastic bags in their homeland.

We are writing a letter to Coca-Cola Amatil, one of the biggest producers of plastic bottles, asking them to re-consider their use of plastic bottles. At the end of the letter we are hoping you could sign your name (click here). We hoping to get as many names as we can!

I hope I have inspired you to campaign against planet- killing things (like bottles) and I need you to remember to tell your friends and family about making a change because if we keep doing what we are doing then nothing will stay alive. Nothing. No animals. No earth. No us.  And remember to make a change!
